Frazee Fire Chief Reggie Ueke was allegedly involved in an altercation at the Frazee Liquor Store recently, and may face criminal charges. Police investigated the allegations and have forwarded the case to the Becker County Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges, said Frazee City Administrator Jonathan Smith.
Five people were arrested Monday following a drug and weapons sweep at three different locations in the village of Naytahwaush, which is in Mahnomen County on the White Earth Indian Reservation. According to a press release from the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Department, officers recovered weapons, narcotics and money during the search, and several young children were taken and turned over to Indian Child Welfare for protective custody.
A Ponsford man has been found guilty of raping a 16 year old girl in the basement of his mother’s house. After a four day jury trial, Joseph Lee Bellanger, 40, was found guilty of two felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
A Detroit Lakes teen has been sentenced in juvenile court for allegedly helping make a fake bomb and taping it to a utility pole in Detroit Lakes’ Peoples Park. The Oct. 1 incident caused police to block off the area and call in a bomb squad. Nearby Rossman Elementary School also went into “Code Yellow” partial lockdown mode, keeping students and staff in their classrooms throughout much of the morning.
Marvin Ray Hanson Jr., 58, of Coon Rapids, has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony first-degree controlled substance crime. According to court records, on March 8 he allegedly sold more than 26 grams of methamphetamines to a “cooperating individual” working with a special agent with the West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Force. He appeared in court March 10, and bail was set at $15,000 or bond at $100,000 with conditions, or $150,000 bail or bond without conditions of release.
John Howard Smith, 51, of Detroit Lakes, has been charged in Becker County District Court with two counts of second-degree and one count of third-degree controlled substance crime, all felonies. According to court records, on Feb. 21 he allegedly sold 5.6 grams of meth to a confidential reliable informant with the West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
A Detroit Lakes woman is facing felony charges after allegedly forwarding nude photos of an underage Detroit Lakes student to other people. Stephanie Raelyn Johnson-Jonason, 18, is facing a felony disseminate pornographic work charge.
