The Grand Forks Central boys soccer team accomplished something that hasn't been done in four years.

For the first time since 2014, the Knights made it to the state tournament.

Central had a solid season finishing with a 10-5-1 overall record and placed third in the east.

The Knights have outscored their opponents this season by 15 goals and are a confident group heading into the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Central will take on the second seed out of the west in Bismarck High School in the quarterfinals. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:15 at Cushman Field.

Mark is the Sports Anchor at WDAZ. He comes to Grand Forks from his hometown of Grand Rapids, MI. Mark graduated from Butler University in 2016 and started working at WDAZ in July of that year. Mark is the Monday-Friday Anchor for the 6 and 10 O'clock shows. During his time as the Sports Anchor at WDAZ, he has covered events like March Madness, Super Bowl 52, and interviewed many athletes--from kindergarteners to professionals. Mark loves playing and watching sports as much as he enjoys covering them--when he was in high school, he was the captain of his varsity basketball team, and he played on Butler's club basketball team. Mark's favorite part of being a sports anchor is capturing and sharing the moments in sports that connect the community. Aside from broadcasting and reporting, Mark loves when he has the opportunity to be the play-by-play announcer for athletic events. In his spare time, you can find Mark shooting hoops, eating ice cream, or hanging out with his wife, Kelly, and their cat, Stella. Fun fact: Mark loves math so much, he added a math minor, just so he could take more college calculus courses.
