The UND hockey team had made 15 consecutive NCAA Tournaments until last season, when the second-longest streak in college hockey history was snapped.

The Fighting Hawks can now officially turn the page to this season as preseason rankings came out today.

North Dakota will start the season ranked 11th nationally and 3rd in the NCHC.

Every team in the NCHC either received votes or is ranked so that should tell fans how tough conference play will be this season.

Here is the look at the NCHC Preseason Media Poll. Minnesota Duluth is the favorite and are ranked first in the nation. St. Cloud State is second and are ranked 6th nationally.

Mark Pearson

Mark is the Sports Anchor at WDAZ. He comes to Grand Forks from his hometown of Grand Rapids, MI. Mark graduated from Butler University in 2016 and started working at WDAZ in July of that year. Mark is the Monday-Friday Anchor for the 6 and 10 O'clock shows. During his time as the Sports Anchor at WDAZ, he has covered events like March Madness, Super Bowl 52, and interviewed many athletes--from kindergarteners to professionals. Mark loves playing and watching sports as much as he enjoys covering them--when he was in high school, he was the captain of his varsity basketball team, and he played on Butler's club basketball team. Mark's favorite part of being a sports anchor is capturing and sharing the moments in sports that connect the community. Aside from broadcasting and reporting, Mark loves when he has the opportunity to be the play-by-play announcer for athletic events. In his spare time, you can find Mark shooting hoops, eating ice cream, or hanging out with his wife, Kelly, and their cat, Stella. Fun fact: Mark loves math so much, he added a math minor, just so he could take more college calculus courses.
