Strike on Syria
(WDAZ-TV) -- President Donald Trump, "My fellow Americans, a short time ago I ordered the United States Armed Forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapons capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al Assad."
A startling announcement from President Donald Trump tonight as the United States, along with France and the United Kingdom, respond to a chemical attack on Syrian people by their own leader.
The President says he is "prepared to sustain" strikes against Syria until the use of chemical agents stops. But America will not seek an "indefinite presence" in the war-torn country.
The move puts the U.S. at odds with Russia -- the President also criticizing the country's support of the Assad Regime.
At least 40 people were killed in the attack near the Syrian capitol last weekend and United Nations Officials have confirmed at least 34 chemical attacks during the eight year Syrian Civil War.
