Pizza place pays to pave potholes
GRAND FORKS - The streets department's crews are paving for pizza in Grand Forks.
This was the scene Tuesday morning at the corner of 5th Avenue South and Oak Street.
Domino's Pizza chose Grand Forks as the sole city in North Dakota to receive a $5,000 grant to fill potholes.
The selection came after the company received many suggestions from area residents.
Crews will be filling holes in the road through Friday. City leaders say the grant is an unexpected surprise.
“It's new for all of us. So there was a little conversation earlier. Boy our crews are doing work anyway this isn't extra work. But you know we can have some fun with it too,” Grand Forks Spokesperson John Bernstrom said.
At the end of this week crews will announce how many holes they were able to fill with the money.
