GRAND FORKS - At a time when domestic violence and sex assault are at the forefront of discussion, a local group is bringing the conversation to the region.

Thursday night is the annual Take Back the Night rally and march on UND's campus.

The march will go from Memorial Union to the Chester Fritz where there will be a speaker about how domestic violence impacted their lives and how the community can help change the culture surrounding domestic violence and sexual assault.

Organizers hope students and community members come together to share their stories and open up a conversation about how people here can stop the violence and support victims.

“The important part is to talk about it, to help people recognize what it is because each situation is completely different. And so if we continue these conversations, more people will become aware, and more people will recognize it, and more people are prone to report it,” CVIC at UND employee Peggy Jo said.

The event is free and open to anyone to participate.

It runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday night. For more information, click here.
