UND, NDSU Presidents discuss research impact on community
GRAND FORKS, ND--The Fighting Hawks and Bison are joining forces...
The two presidents at the schools met to discuss ways the two university research impacts the community.
The presidents touched on the 225 million dollars the schools spend on research, and the 3 thousand people they employ.
President Kennedy says he hopes the schools' impact reaches out to surrounding cities.
“I want to say this is about more than Grand Forks and Fargo for the valley. This is about the state of North Dakota, and how the two research Universities in the State could make a powerful impact,” said UND President, Mark Kennedy.
The schools plan on asking the legislature for a combined 100 million dollars to invest in research at each school.
UND's areas are energy, health, rural challenges - the drug problems and drones.
