4 arrested after hitting squad car, fleeing on foot
GRAND FORKS- Four people are behind bars and facing a list of charges, after leading police on a high-speed chase that ended with a damaged squad car and a foot chase.
The Grand Forks Police Department attempted to pull over a speeding black Chevy Blazer that was heading eastbound on Gateway Avenue without headlines on, just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The vehicle accelerated, fleeing from officers. That's when it tried turning at North 20th Street, but failed, going over the curb, backing up and striking the pursuing police squad car.
Police say the driver and three passengers then got out of the vehicle, running away on foot from the officers.
Officers quickly arrested the driver and one passenger, while the other two were found after a search of the area.
Two adults and two juveniles were taken into custody.
The driver is facing charges of driving under suspension, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing in a motor vehicle and refusal to halt. The passengers were all charged with refusal to halt.
