City finishes final sweep of storm debris
GRAND FORKS --The city finished their sweep of of the town picking up the last of the storm debris on Friday, and the numbers are in.
The landfill took in 734 tons of storm debris in just 2 weeks.
Public works says they had multiple crews out at once cleaning throughout the last 2 weeks.
They attribute a lot of the success to residents helping people in their neighborhoods haul branches where the city could come pick them up.
“It was a significant quantity that was hauled in a two week period; over 730 tons, which is, in a two week period about the same as we hauled all of July of last year,” said Grand Forks Public Works Operations Director, Leahrae Amundson.
City crews themselves hauled 459 tons, and Private Contractors hauled 132 tons.
